KNS, Inc. has put together a series of new antennas in a variety of different bands to promote a more enhance service for its customers, and to improve the efficiency of different vertical sectors, ranging from On-The-Move, Military, Oil & Gas, OSVs, Leisure, Commercial Shipping and Commercial Fishing.

For the On-The-Move market, KNS have launched M4MK1-Ku and M9MK1-KU. Both these On-The-Move antennas are extremely durable and are able to provide strong, broadband connectivity, even when movement changes direction instantly. The M4Mk1-Ku has a 45cm (18″) dish diameter, with an antenna dimension of 63cm (W) x 63cm (L) x 51cm (H). This antenna has an angular velocity of Elevation: 200 deg/sec and an Azimuth velocity of 300 deg/sec. The L-Band frequency is 950~2150 MHz and has a linear polarization. The Angular Acceleration is Elevation: 2000 deg/sec2 and Azimuth acceleration is 3000 deg/sec2. The Frequency is TX: 13.75~14.5 GHz/RX: 10.75~12.75 GHz. The Antenna Gain is TX: 34.91 dBi at14.2 GHz and RX is 33.16 dBi at11.6 GHz.

For the M9MK1-KU there are two frequencies available – KU and Ka Band. For the KU-Band, the frequency is RX: Ku-Band: 12.25 GHz~12.75 GHz and TX: 14.0 GHz~14.5 GHz. For Ka-Band, RX is 19.96 GHz~21.2 GHz and TX is 29.4 GHz~31.0 GHz. Polarization for Ku Band is linear and for the Ka-Band the polarization is Circular. The Antenna Gain for the Ku-Band for RX: 39.4 dBi at 12.5 GHz, and for TX it is 40.2 DBi at 14.25 GHz. The Ka-Band Antenna Gain for RX is 44 dBi at 20.4 GHz, and the TX is 47.5 dBi at 30.2 GHz.

From the Z-SuperTrack Series, there are two new antennas – the Z7MK3-KU and Z10 MK3-Ka-(DBS). These products are ideal for ships looking for broadband speeds at sea, where they require reliable and always-on Internet, VoIP and fast email service. The new Z7MK3-KU has a dish diameter of 75 cm (30″), and an antenna dimension of 113 cm (D) x 117 cm (H), with a weight of just 86 kg. The frequency for TX is 13.75~14.5 GHz and RX is 10.75~12.75 GHz. It has an antenna gain of TX: 39.1 dBi at 14.25 GHz and RX is 37.5 dBi at 11.75 GHz. The G/T (Gain To Noise Temperature) is 16.37 dB/K (in Randome). The unique aspects of this antenna are that it has been approved by Military Standard regulations and has passed the MIL-STD-901D, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-167 and MIL-STD-810G and is distributed by AnaTel, located in Brazil. With such strict military testing, the ship motion specification is very high – Roll ± 24.7° at 8 sec periods, the Pitch is ± 15º at 6 second periods and the Yaw is ±8º at 15 sec periods.

The Z10 MK3-Ka (DBS) has a dish diameter of 100cm (40″), and has an antenna dimension of 144 cm (D) x 152 cm (H), with a weight of just 119.5 kg. The Frequency is TX: 18.1 ~ 18.4GHz and the RX is 21.4 ~21.7 GHz, with a linear polarization. The Z10 MK3-Ka benefits from an all-in-one PCU with all upgrades available remotely. There is a shock absorber and a wire rope isolator which reduces vibration. With three standardized military testing approved – MIL-STD-901D, MIL-STD-461 and the MIL-STD-167, as you would expect the ship motion is extremely rigid. The Roll is ± 24º at 8-12 second period, the Pitch is ± 14º at 6-12 second period, and the Yaw is ± 15-20 second period.

For the X-Series, which excels in flexibility during rough seas and provides strong broadband communications performance for the military, KNS now has the X15MK3-X, which has a diameter of 150cm (58″), an antenna dimension of 212 cm (D) x 206 cm (H), and a weight of 207 kg. The Frequency is TX: 7.9~8.4 GHz and the RX is 7.25~7.75 GHz. The Antenna Gain for TX is 40.2 dBi at 8.15 GHz and the RX is 39.6 dBi at 7.5 GHz with the G/T at 18.89 db/K (in Randome). The Ship Motion is equally as high as the other antennas, with ± 25º at 6-12 second period, the Pitch is ± 15º at 6-12 period and the Yaw is ± 5º at 5-50 second period. The antenna is WGS (World Geodetic System) compliant which means it meets the standard for use in cartography, geodesy, and navigation including by GPS.
The final new product in the series is the VSAT Crossover System – N. This product enables a dual VSAT configuration that is connected to a router and satellite modem. This enables a much easier process of switching from one antenna to another, and with low maintenance. The Crossover System is a standard 1U 19″ rack size and weighs 4.5 kg. The unique features of this VSAT cross system include a 10-MHz that has a per-day stability of 1 parts per million (1E-9), OCXO output controlled via a switch and the voltage is controlled by OCXO output. There is an Rx and Tx Attenuator for each antenna, which has a total attenuation of 60 dB, with 0.1 dB accuracy and a step size of 0.25 dB. There is an emission control for radio silence or termination of the transmission. The VSAT Crossover System is WGS compliant.

The six new products is part of the new approach to KNS’s direction of development, to produce next generation antennas that are reliable, cost efficient, built to military standard and simple to use.
